The Scottish Government established a Participation partnership to ensure that children and young people, especially young survivors of gender-based violence, participated in their plan of action.

The Everyday Heroes team of young and adult experts were from the University of Edinburgh and the IMPACT project, Barnardo’s Scotland, Scottish Women’s Aid, Rape Crisis Scotland and the Scottish Youth Parliament. They worked together to design engagement sessions and a survey to ask young participants views on improving journeys through services and the justice system, improve societal attitudes and promote gender equality. The full recommendations are in the Executive Summary and detailed evidence for each recommendation is supplied in the themed reports. Services, Justice, Gender Inequality were the key themes of the programme, Education and Participation emerged as two important themes across all projects within the programme.
